Started in 2002, JodoHost is a provider of multiple hosting services including Windows web hosting, Linux web hosting, VPS and cloud servers. Once the company enjoyed a good reputation due to the excellent reliability and technical support. However, since 2010, many users have transferred their websites away. More and more complaints have also been submitted on the web.
For this review, we will analyze the company’s Windows hosting. By reading the pros and cons, you are able to find out that JodoHost is not a good hosting choice for most people.
For Windows hosting, JodoHost offers two types of service which are differentiated by the control panel – Plesk and H-Sphere. Since Plesk is more popular and easy-to-use, the following review only focuses on the Windows hosting plans with Plesk.
Pros of JodoHost Windows Hosting
JodoHost Windows hosting doesn’t come with many advantages, but the scalability and the refund guarantee are still appreciated.
Multiple hosting plans
JodoHost provides 4 Windows hosting plans which include the Plesk control panel. These plans seem affordable as the prices start from $3.95/mo only. To be more specific, the plans, named Starter, Value, Gold and Titanium, are now available at $3.95/mo, $6.95/mo, $18.95/mo and $30.95/mo.
A piece of bad news is that JodoHost doesn’t offer any special discount for the initial term. Besides, the features included in the affordable Starter and Value plans are quite limited, which may not be sufficient for hosting a website. More details are presented later.
30-day full refund
For all the Windows hosting plans, JodoHost promises that you can get a full refund if you cancel your account within the first 30 days of signup. In the case that you cancel after 30 days, you will still receive the refund of all the unused months after a deduction of the $10 refund charge.
Cons of JodoHost Windows Hosting
According to our reviews and careful monitoring, JodoHost is not doing well in the hosting performance, technical support, and features. The bad uptime and technical support are the most serious problems with this company’s Windows hosting services.
Limited features & server resources
The Plesk control panel is a highlight of the Windows hosting services offered by JodoHost. However, the other features in the plans, especially the individual plans, are not that satisfying.
For example, both the Starter and Value plans include 1 MSSQL database, and supports 1 domain. Besides, Starter comes with only 1 GB disk space, and Value includes 3 GB. The storage is quite limited considering the plans’ prices.
To show the features more clearly, we have compared JodoHost Starter plan with the Basic plan from Host4ASP.NET, a reputed Windows hosting provider.

Unreliable email service
JodoHost provides email hosting services to every user, but in the recent years, the company has often been complained for the downtime of the mail servers. Many people say that the mail servers usually go down for several hours, with no solution offered by the provider. Besides, the mail servers have been said to suffer from blacklisting problems.
JodoHost owns a private data center in Waco, TX. To show the reliability of the data center, the company says that it adopts Juniper routers, Cisco switches, security audits, regular maintenance and proactive monitoring. The information seems convincing, but the reality is quite disappointing.
In the first few years of hosting, JodoHost provided reliable services with 99.9% uptime, but since 2009 or 2010, the company’s servers and networks have become very unstable. Server issues occur now and then, which causes a couple of hours’ downtime. What’s worse, the technical team doesn’t help with such issues.
For a clue of the real uptime of JodoHost, take a look at our recent monitoring.
JodoHost servers are not slow, but because of the downtime and the unexpected network issues, JodoHost fails to deliver fast page loads to its users. The so-called professional system administrators don’t seem to make any difference to the company’s performance.
The evidence can be seen in the following monitoring results of JodoHost server response speed.
Bad technical support
JodoHost provides free technical support as well as paid support plans. As the company claims, the free support only covers the firewall, network, IP-addressing and server problems. If you need support for an incident, you have to pay $20 for 30-minute support, or $35 for 60-minute support.
Compared with the high charges, there is a more severe problem with the technical support offered by JodoHost. In this year, many users complain that the company’s support team is actually located in India instead of the US, and the support representatives are Indians who can’t speak English properly on the phone and live chat. Besides, in many cases, the support team can’t help resolve customers’ server issues.
Try Another Web Host for Windows Hosting
JodoHost does provide easy-to-use Windows hosting plans, but the limited features, bad performance and unprofessional technical support are good reasons for you to turn to another choice.
Among all the web hosts we’ve reviewed, we’d recommend the following ones most if you want an affordable yet reliable Windows hosting package.
